The Denis Jacobs Youth Cricket Trust has been set up in memory of Denis Jacobs who passed away in November 2014.
Denis Jacobs played cricket at Byfleet Village before moving to Avorians, becoming for so many the embodiment of the Cobham Club, filling many roles and rising to Chairman in his latter years.
It was his leadership and industry in establishing Surrey's age group coaching scheme which set the stage for a generation of exciting young players such as Graham Thorpe and the Bicknell brothers to emerge. Denis' contribution ensured that the Surrey Cricket Association and the County Schools, having been separate entities, worked together to huge benefit.
He managed two youth tours to Australia, raising much of the cost through various schemes so that youngsters from all backgrounds could join the trip.
Denis took much satisfaction from watching players at his beloved Avorians or Surrey develop as both players and people.
He was a kind man who always took an interest in their lives.
Denis was made life Vice President of Surrey Cricket Club for his long and distinguished service.
